Technical Information

Acrylics

I prefer Golden Acrylics which is a premium, highly pigmented paint range for professional artists, known for their quality, buttery consistency (Heavy Body), and fluid options, offering excellent colour range, lightfastness, and versatility for various techniques.

Canvas

I use Museum 100% cotton canvases or Museo Linen canvases for my paintings.

Museum” art canvas in NZ refers to a premium, gallery-quality stretched canvas, 100% cotton, hand-stretched over kiln-dried pine for durability. These canvases are designed for professional artists, offering excellent colour retention, a smooth gesso surface for oils/acrylics, and are built to last, with options for various sizes and depths.

MUSEO Portrait linen canvases are made with extra fine linen and particularly suitable for the real fine painters. Extra strong, hand-made stretcher, Extra fine 100% Flanders linen, 3 Layers of gesso primer.

Finishing

I finish each painting with an isolation coat (acrylic gel), which separates the paint layer from the solvent-based varnish (Golden MSA) applied afterward. This process provides a beautiful, durable finish that is highly UV-resistant, helps prevent scuffing, and allows the varnish to be safely removed back to the isolation coat for future conservation or restoration.

Framing

Not all of my paintings are framed; however, those that have been professionally framed using top-quality materials and Art Glass. Each frame follows best-practice conservation standards to ensure the artwork is well protected from moisture and sunlight, helping to preserve it in excellent condition for years to come.

Frames are selected to match the theme / style of each painting in consultation with the framer and the price will vary considerably depending on the canvas size and the frames style chosen for each painting.

Skate Board Designs

Macrocapra is used for the boards and is sourced from local suppliers, all boards are hand painted with Golden Acrylic paints and varnished to protect the paint.
